Some nice blue interiors...

I just adore any shade of blue, it is very relaxing and calming, mixed with white. Have any of you blue and whites in your interiors?

Oh to Live in a Grand House in the Irish Countryside

The sunshine yellow room, with beautiful fireplace, mirror and grand bookcase.

The blue room, very elegant with pretty porcelain tiles on the fire surround
The grand red room, this is the ladies room,
Look at that plaster work on the ceiling and moulding, and the mirror is very elaborate.
Another wonderful room, those windows are so grand and I love the shutters.
Wouldn't you love that view every day...
and to eat in this dining room...
and when your day is over, retreat up these stairs to bed...

Country Garden

You have have noticed that I am not very green fingered but I can appreciate some nice gardens when I see them and I love the natural environment, I love trees and flowers and when I get my new home I want a lovely garden too. I help out alot in my mother's garden. At the weekend I took these photographs of the garden centre and gardens at the estate we visited, hope you like them!

Some advice, ideas, help & inspiration needed...

I have announced my BIG news to you all, and over time I will keep you updated on the progress of the build, but don't worry my blog is not going to become merely an update on the build, I still will have lots of other nice things to write about :-) Crafts, interiors, style, countrysides, colours, etc, etc...

So just to give you a bit of an idea about what the layout of the new house should look like, here is a plan of the ground floor below

There you go, we have a large kitchen/ dining area, sun room, small lounge/ snug and good sitting room to front, one of which may be used as a study/workspace/library room. There is also a small utility and toilet/ shower room to the rear. The plan will be altered in this area to ensure proper wheelchair access. The garage is accessible from the house. So there you have it!

So far I am thinking cream kitchen/wooden worktops, blue walls in the kitchen area/ cream colour in the dining area, possibly tiles on floor in kitchen and wooden floor in the dining area, wooden floor in the lounge/snug. Have you any nice interiors ideas for my moodboards? The wall between the lounge and the dining area may not go in as I would like to have lots of sun in the kitchen area. Any advice, help is much appreciated on interior colours, designs, styles, items, furniture.

P.S I have a small budget so no really expensive items please unless you know someone who is willing to donate them to me ..      :-)

Summer Time Fun :)

Today I went off on my adventures again and here are some photographs to share with you. We went to Belvedere House and Gardens. I hope you are all enjoying the lovely Summer, the weather is fabulous here! So perfect! I get to work from home tomorrow which is a nice change. Hope all the Dads out there had a nice Fathers Day too :)
Here is a folly on the estate. This is the largest folly in Ireland. For those of you who may not know, a folly is an ornamental building serving no useful purpose, mostly built to adorn the landspace. Here is the jealous wall built in 1760 in the style of a ruined medieval abbey to block the view of a larger house nearby resulting from a quarrel over a lady. Doubt these things happen today!!
Another view of the folly!
Here is the large house on the estate known as Belvedere House. The estate comprises of 160 acres along the lake. The house is a large Georgian Villa designed by architect Richard Castles. There is also a wonderful Victorian Walled Garden.

Come with me through the arch to the Secret Walled Garden..

It was so sunny today.. wish it was like this every day...
Another folly on the estate; the Gothic Arch
Spectacular views of the lakeshore
So peaceful and relaxing
What a perfect Sunday, thank you for taking the time to enjoy my photographs and letting me share my memories with you...
Hope you all enjoyed your day too :)

Some BIG news!

Some of you may remember me blogging about a top secret I had, well it's time for the big reveal to you all! Have any of you been guessing? This is on the cards since the new year and I wrote about it in my New Year Goals :-)  I am like a wee bird that is going to build a nest :-) After all home is where the heart is!

If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house, I should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace ~Gaston Bachelard

The most important work you and I will ever do will be within the walls of our own homes ~Harold B. Lee

Life's a voyage that's homeward bound ~Herman Melville
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home ~John Howard Payne

A good home must be made, not bought ~Joyce Maynard

My home is not a place, it is people ~Lois McMaster Bujold]

Any ideas??? I have gave the secret away! Yes you guessed it! Myself and my boyfriend are building a home together, we have the plans all ready and have permission. We are both living at home with our seperate families at the moment but as soon as the house is built it will be our HOME!!! :-) As you may have noticed I'm very excited, all I need now is lots of money! All donations accepted :)

Crisp Clean Cream...

Do you like cream interiors, are they boring?!? Well how about these? They are all very simple but stylish, elegant yet subtle and streamlined. There are such an array of cream paints to choose from, the ones below are all from the dulux paint range. I am really liking them all and think they look very cheerful and cosy too. Do you have any nice cream interiors to share with us all?

More wonderful inspiration...

We recently had friends from Holland staying at our place and they showed me this lovely shop online. I absolutely adore it- PiP Studio. The home page is really cute and I love all their products- it is well worth a visit I assure you! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend, I was off work yesterday for a wedding so have an extra long weekend :-)
