2013: Review

January: The start of the year and my wee home was featured in IKEA Live Magazine
http://www.ikeafamilylivemagazine.com/ie/en/article/31581
February: This was quite on the blogging front but it was our first Valentines as a married couple which was exciting.
March: I had a nice break from work for Easter and was happy that the days were now much longer and I could get out and about on the farm and pick some lovely wild flowers.
April: I spent quite a while in April deciding on fabrics for my guest bedroom but made a good choice in the end.

May: The weather was nice in May and we spent a lovely day in the Phoenix Park in Dublin which was enjoyable.
June: More trips, I visited Derry City for the first time with my parents, it really is lovely place with great architecture.

July: How could we forget the wonderful weather we had, we went for a weekend to Avoca, visited Glendalough and Powerscourt House and Gardens in County Wicklow and really enjoyed the beautiful weather.

August: Afternoon tea in Castle Leslie  was the highlight of August. This was a gift from my sister in law. Some more interiors were tackled in the house- we eventually did some work on our guest bedroom and just had to wait for the blinds to be finished.
September: More time spent on interiors and getting use to the shorter days drawing in.
October: Autumn time was setting in and I took some lovely walks in the countryside which inspired me to post some lovely autumnal interior posts.

November: The nights were really drawing in and there wasn't as much work on the farm in the evenings so I read a lot and posted some wishlist posts.

December: It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our home. I had friends visit and enjoyed my time off from work with family.
So here's to 2013 and I'm off to get ready for visitors coming for the New Year Celebrations later tonight!

Christmas Greetings from All things nice..

Wishing each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and good wishes for the festive season.

Rockin' around the Christmas Tree...

Hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a busy one cleaning and dusting before putting up my Christmas decorations. Here are a few images *sorry they are blurry) of my trees (I have one real one in our sunroom and the other one is an artificial one in our sitting room. My husband cut the real one on Saturday, it was difficult as the weather was so bad. He had a great choice, it is around 9-10 foot tall and fits nicely in my sunroom.

Getting into the spirit of Christmas...

Hope everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit of things. I can't believe it is December already and it is just a few weeks now until Christmas. I haven't put up the Christmas tree yet but below are a few images from around my home last Christmas. Last year my husband went off to the forest to get a nice Christmas tree and I  gave instructions that I wanted a big tree for our first Christmas in our new home, so when I got home from work I had an eight foot tree in the room! We had to buy extra lights. I loved it, not sure if we will have such a large one this year though.

My November Wishlist.... Wood and Wool, Cath Kidston, Fragonard, Joules.....

Here are a few items on my wish list this week, my wish list changes from week to week as I browse the internet and come across so many pretty items from furniture, to handbags, to perfumes, clothes, the list goes on.... This week I'm loving these hand made stools made from recycled wood with crochet covers from Wood & Wool. For some time I have been admiring handbags and just love this Garden Birds Everyday Bag from Cath Kidston. It looks really practical, easy to clean and also comfortable. I like a bag that I can put on my shoulder, not keen on clutch bags. Next item on my wish list is anything from Fragonard Parfumeur based in Grasse in South France (near Cannes & Nice). I visited their historic perfume factory over ten years ago and was delighted to see Marks and Spencer stock some of their products for Christmas. Finally for the current weather, I spotted this really pretty Joules country inspired umbrella. Joules has beautiful country inspired clothing, homewares and accessories. Have you any of the items below, if you have seen them, please do go check out the websites. What's on your wish list?

Cute Christmas Advert... The Bear and the Hare

I know we have a few more weeks to go, but I couldn't resist posting this cute Christmas Advert from John Lewis on my blog. Hope you enjoy if you haven't seen it yet. It is so sweet :)

Cute Cats...

How cute are these cats & kittens :) They brightened up my day... How adorable! Do you have pets, if so why not take some photos and post them so we can all take a look. I don't have any pets here at our house, but we have several cats on the farm. I have a photo of Tommy below in the long grass.

Happy Weekend...

Happy weekend everyone, we have an extra long weekend here in Ireland. It is a bank holiday on Monday :) Hope you have lots of nice plans...

Autumn in Ireland...

Hello everyone, it's the weekend again :) The weeks are flying by, I'm on a half day from work today. The weather is awful today, raining all day but you can't beat an afternoon at the fire, drinking tea and blogging. Have you any nice plans for the weekend? Below are some images from around the farm last weekend.

Autumn Trends Interior Design

Autumn has really set in here in Ireland. It is 7 o' clock now and getting dark. I have the fire lit in the wood burning stove and it is really cosy here. The weather was lovely today, lots of sunshine and very mild too. The leaves are falling off the trees, mushrooms are popping up in the grass and there are berries all over the hedgerows. I love Autumn time and like to make my home nice and cosy for the long nights ahead, a bit like the hedgehog preparing for hibernation. Here are some lovely images from Your Home Magazine Website of Autumn Interior Design Trends. Both are from Laura Ashley. Hope you like them and to see more visit their website- it is full of lovely images and decorating ideas.

Wishing well...

Today I went for a walk to the well. It is an old well with fresh water in one of the fields. Some of the neighbours come here for water. The pallet is put across the front of it to stop the cows getting too near. It is unusual as there is a tree growing almost on top of it. Do you have spring wells where you live? You can get the water tested to make sure it is ok for drinking, ours is ok.  The water is crystal clear but you can't see that in the photos. Hope your having a nice weekend whatever your up to...

Not on the High Street...

Greetings everyone. It's hard to believe that it is almost the end of September already, where is the time going? The weather was lovely here this weekend. I tidied up the house yesterday and put out some of the Autumn accessories, however I feel like I still want lots of bright accessories around the home to brighten the place up. I was taking a look at Not on the High Street and came across these lovely items below which I would love in my home... For those of you who are not familiar with Not on the High Street you really got to visit the site, it is well worth it! Full of unique creative businesses.

Today I Love Floral Patchwork Design...

This weekend I took a look around Marks and Spencer and found the cutest home accessories! Check them out below, pretty patchwork stag's head, home sign and cute dog door stop. They are all floral fabric. Both Marks and Spencer and Next have lovely home accessories. I didn't buy any items for the house as I was on a mission to buy clothes. I will show you some images of all the Autumn clothes I bought in another post. The Autumn is really and truly upon us, the evenings are getting shorter and the weather is much cooler.  Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

A White Guest Bedroom...

I promised I would show you an image of my new roman blind in my guest bedroom. The room is painted white. Here it is, sorry the image is very dull. It was taken at the weekend when the weather was very gloomy. I still have more finishing touches to add to this room but overall I think it is coming together well. I need to try and get some nice wall art for over the bed, any suggestions? I don't want anything too patterned as the fabric used on the blind, the bed runner and the cushions is enough pattern. Modern Vintage Furniture...

This week I spotted the New Country Range Doll Furniture from DFS. It is very feminine with lots of pastel colours. It is almost shabby chic with a modern twist. I think it is really pretty. Have you seen it yet? If not, do you like it? I love all the cute patterns- florals, birds and patch work. Although it looks so pretty I wonder how practical it is?
