Paintings, Sketches and Drawings....

A few weeks ago when on my travels along the Wild Atlantic Way, I stopped off at a car boot sale in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. I always love a bargain and enjoy looking around these sales. I saw a few lovely vintage china tea sets and paintings but finally I decided on buying this sketch/drawing which I think will look really good in my sitting room once I have it decorated. It appears to be a lady from Northern Ireland that did it and I did some research to see what the building is and it was a former prison- that may explain the bars on the windows. I have also chosen the paint for the room and next weekend I will get painting. I was away this weekend in the West of Ireland so will post about that soon too...

Some Shopping at The National Trust

Check out these beautiful home accessories from The National Trust. For those of you that may not be aware The National Trust is a conservation charity protecting historic places and green spaces throughout the UK opening them up for everyone. It is well worth your time visiting their website and some of their properties.

There is no other place I'd rather be- Hidden Ireland

Summer has come at last. I have been spending as much time as possible out and about in the evenings. I love going for a long walk along the lake shore. Why not come along with me....

Just cross the road, up through the farmyard and down the back of the hill, pass the dairy cows grazing happily....
and over by the calves...
cross the fence and take a look at the beautiful views- all of the trees to the right hand side of the photo is an island which is now overgrown...
take a closer look right from the waters edge, lots of blue damselflies fluttering by, a rabbit popping his head through the hedge and swans swimming eloquently in the distance...
coming back up through one of the fields, no one around, not the sight of a house, building or person, pure bliss, tranquility and peace...
If there is such a place as heaven, well this is the nearest thing to it for me....
There is no place like home.... who needs holidays when you have this on your doorstep each day...
The Irish countryside is truly beautiful, with wonderful landscape, scenery and when we get the good weather, there is no other place I'd rather be....
............................... thanks for coming along with me

Some shopping for the home...

Last weekend I visited Asda in Enniskillen and bought this lovely new king size duvet cover for just £14.00- such a bargain. It is really soft and suits our bedroom perfectly as it is light blue with cream furniture.

Around my home...

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had an extra long one as I took Friday off and today was a bank holiday. I spent Friday with my parents and Saturday with my sister in law. Yesterday I did the shopping and today I just chilled out and did some housework.
Below are a few images from around my home if you would like a nosy. First up is my growing stack of pretty towels in our bathroom with a few Cath Kidston items thrown in too... The wee lotions I got for 50p in a charity shop, I will probably never use them as they are too pretty. As you may have noticed before my bathroom is very vintage style with lots of florals.

Here are a few more photos of the dresser in my living room. Some of my books are stored here including Selina Lake's Homespun Style, Lorna Sixsmith's Would you Marry a Farmer, Gisele Scalon's Goddess Guide, the rest of my books are stored in my library room in the attic. I also have lots of country inspired items. The card is hand painted silk from Swallow Yarn Barn. You might also spot my Rachel Allen Forget me Not candle and the pretty wildlife cards from Wrendale Designs.
And finally some more of my books in my library in the attic...
So I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek around my home...
